Juan Gets Another Chance | CAS

My name is Juan.

I am a 35-year-old Puerto Rican from Buffalo, NY. When I was growing up I didn’t know a lot about sex aside from what I saw on television. I just knew that I loved sex and wanted to have sex as much as possible. I didn’t know anyone who had gotten a sexually transmitted infection so I wasn’t aware of how important it was to use protection when having sex. I tried using condoms when I was younger but had a problem staying erect because it wasn’t comfortable for me. Since that experience in high school I never wore a condom.

Recently, a few days after having sex, I started to feel pain while urinating. It was really irritating so I went to my doctor to see what the issue was and after getting tested I was told I had Chlamydia. I couldn’t believe it. All the years of having unprotected sex with many women caught up with me. I was happy that it was the type of infection that could be treated and cured. However, I immediately realized that unprotected sex wasn’t worth the risk and that I’d have to find a condom that worked for me. Now, I go to Community Access Services to choose from a variety of free condoms they have available. I also go to them for free testing so I know my status.
